What have you made for your wedding?
What have you made yourself for your wedding?
Using a professional graphic design program, I made the
save-the-dates, the invitations, the thank-you cards, the programs, the placecards, and part of the favors. I also made our version of a guest book, which was large flowering tree, with tags on ribbons for the guests to write a wish and tie it to the tree. As much I would have liked to, I cannot sew or work with flowers so I left all that to the pros. I know my limitations! But I had a lot of fun making things.
Reply:I put together my invitations (which included gluing on 600 tiny swarovski crystals to all of them), wedding programs and favors. My favors were these chocolate dipped strawberries made to look like a bride and groom that my wedding cake baker had made. She made them but I needed to put all of them into boxes and tie them with ribbon!
Reply:For my niece's wedding, my husband, my son and I made the invitations and the thank you cards.
For our son's wedding, we had a bunch of people over the night before to make the bouquets.
For our nephew's wedding, I made the favors for a shower.
Reply:My wedding had a lot of stuff that I made. My maid of honor and I made all the bridesmaid purses, I made the flower girls basket and ring bearers pillow. I had a few friends and family come over and help make our favors and centerpieces and a huge money saver was I ordered flowers online in bulk and my sisters and friends helped arrange them. We did the bouquets, corsages, boutiners, cake flowers, altar flowers and everyother flower used during the wedding. It doesnt take a lot of work just look at pictures and be creative
Reply:We're making the centerpieces, the invitations, the place cards, the programs, the thank-you cards, the favors, and my veil. I had considered doing the bouquets, too, but decided that I'd have enough to do the day before/of the wedding, and didn't need the hassle for the little bit I'd save. Do what you're comfortable with. Sometimes it's worth it to pay someone to take care of details when you don't have the time or expertise to do it yourself.
Reply:Well my friend made my bridesmaid dress and my daughter's flower girl dress. He also made my bouquet and my cake which was 3 tiers. We also did all of the decorations ourselves(it was an outside wedding). All of it was so beautiful. The wedding w/o my dress was around $300.
Reply:Let's see. I made my veil...it was beautiful. I made the bouqets...also beautiful, Bows and flowers for the church pews, candle holders for the church, table centerpieces for the reception, and favors. I also found out who was getting married after me and we split the flowers for the alter and the runner. I saved over $200 doing that!!
Reply:Well in order to save on the wedding, i think it will be fine to not have a wedding planner. We can be creative in our own ways, plus, it will be nice if the people around you (i.e close friends and family) will be helpful.
Reply:My mother took her wedding dress, cut it up and made "ring pillows" for each of the grandkids using the material, ribbon and beading off the dress (almost 60 years old). My niece just got married and the ring pillow was in a place of great honor...and was beautiful, by the way.
Oh, in case you were wondering, the dress did get worn by my sister when she got married, but we knew it would never get worn again, so this was how my mother wanted it memorialized.
Reply:We made our wedding invitations...oh wow, were they beautiful. This did not save us a penny--we could have bought printed invites and spent alot less, but they wou;dn't have been as nice as ours. My fiance is a photographer, so his equipment is professional grade--we even die cut our own envelopes! It was really fun, and we took alot of pride in it.
Reply:The invites and favours, that was it. I didn't hire a planner, we planned everything together, that was the fun part.
Reply:My invitations- and I made them very professionally- not that box crap from Ac moore.
My programs- seating chart and little cards.
I still need to make my card holder.
I made my pew bows and the bathroom baskets!
Reply:Wow - we did a lot for our wedding when we got married.
With thelp of family %26amp; friends, we did ALL the flowers (church, bouquets, corsages %26amp; boutennieres), our centerpieces (which the hall liked so much, they bought off of us), decorations for cake %26amp; cookie table (again, the hall bought), the card box, our wedding favors, thank-you gifts for flower girls %26amp; ring bearers, centerpieces %26amp; favors for shower, pew bows...
Reply:We ordered our invitations from a company, but we handmade the response cards, thank you's, and place cards to go along with our invites. We did the church programs as well.
Reply:My flowers and centerpieces were made by my sister. My sister and I made my veil. It made my wedding very persoanlized and unique.
Reply:centerpieces, flowers, decorations..... everything
Reply:When I first got engaged, I was super gung ho about the idea of making things myself, then the larger the guest list grew and the bigger the wedding party got, I kinda threw that idea out the window. DIY for 200 guests seems like a bad idea to me (at least if I plan on keeping my sanity). We're finding other ways to cut costs and to make our wedding unique. I might still do a few things myself. I'm planning on making a box for the cards to put on the gift table, and I'm making my bridesmaids pearl necklaces and earrings as part of their gifts. I decided to leave the floral, cake, food and photography to the professionals though. I'd rather pay for the services (knowing how easily stressed I get) than have to freak out about getting everything made and organized in time. I think for smaller weddings its a great idea, but for me it wasn't worth the hassle.
Reply:i am so not crafty! i will be making nothing for my wedding!
Reply:I am currently in the process of making tags for the mini lanterns that will be both the table numbers for the guests (their names on the tags and what table they'll sit at) and their take home favors. I thought I'd hate doing it because I'm not really crafty, but man! they've turned out great! I'm shocked! I don't think I'll be making anything else though. Cute question.
Reply:Friends and family are helping me make the bouquets for my wedding.
Reply:The centerpieces, decorations, floral arrangements, veil, garters, bouquets. Reception food and desserts. Everything but the cake for the reception. A personal seamstress for my dress and store bought the bridesmaids dresses. Got the tuxes and fg and rb attire offline. Rented the Grooms and groomsmens attire. Used a family member to use my DJ equipment for the music and constructed my own dance floor
Reply:last year i made my favors, and pew bows.
my center pieces were candles so that wasnt something i could have made.
Reply:Phone calls. :-)
Reply:I made my church programs, table card settings, rehearsal dinner invites, and favors.
Reply:Gosh - it feels like I'm making just about everything - with pretty much no help (my bridesmaids are all out of state and my parents have been dealing with a family emergency with my grandpa - and my fiance has helped as much as he can, but I try to get a lot done when he's at work.)
(Sorry my pictures aren't the greatest)
*We did our invitations and response cards ourselves, as well as invitations to the rehearsal dinner (the people at the post office even let us cancel the stamps ourselves.)
*Programs
*Place cards and Table name cards
*Waving ribbon wands (instead of bubbles or rice)
*Bridal Bouquet - purple and white with crystals:

*Matron of Honor Bouquet - http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Bridesmaid Bouquets (2) - http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*All the boutonnières - groom, groomsmen, dads, ushers - http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Corsages for the mothers (2) - http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Centerpieces (10) -
http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*All the crystal stems used for wedding stuff -
http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Place card holders (okay, I didn't make the shoe, but I made the wire by double twisting it and then I did a coil on top to hold the card and bent the wire on the bottom to sit on the shoe and I pinned it in place - and Richelieu is just taking the place of the card for now - he won't really be there.) - http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Sleeves for my dress - I will wear this under my strapless dress, so the jacket doesn't cover up any of the embroidery and beading on my dress -
http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Items for the favor boxes - I've been making many different things which I don't have pictures of - including trading cards of the bride and groom, Hogwarts Express Tickets, Chocolate Frog Cards (of and for the wedding party only), and other stuff including individualized stones for each of the guests -
http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff65/...
*Favor boxes - each and everyone different so every guest will get something unique that fits their personality (I've made over 75)-

*We will also be making a fun quiz about the bride and groom for the reception. And a madlib guests will come up with words for and which will be ready at the end of the reception.
We're doing some other things as well, but right now I can't think of what they are. We're also making the pages for the guest book so each guest will get to fill out a page and draw a picture of themselves.
Reply:I designed and made/am making my save-the-dates, invitations, centerpieces, table runners, place cards, church programs, and table numbers (with pictures of our dogs). Some of this is done to be cost effect, but mostly because I really enjoy making things.
I have left the more difficult stuff to professionals, including the flowers, photography, and cake.
Reply:We are making pretty much everything ourselves. My mom is a prefessional cake decorator and also does floral arrangements. So I will be helping her with those 2 things. We are making my centerpieces. We are preparing most of the food, but ordering a few select food items. My favors are being decorated by us. The wedding and reception decor will be our creation. I am making my own invitations and magnetic save the date cards. I'm sure I have forgotten something that I am supposed to be working on... So yea...I'm a busy little bride!
