Flowers for wedding cake topper......?

The cake we have chosen has flowers on top. I am making my own bouquets, etc, using silk flowers. Want to use same ones for cake.

How would I go about making the cake topper arrangement? Just bundle them as in a corsage and stick the stem part into the middle of the cake? Or do I attach them to a cake board of some type and just lay that on top?

If you had flowers on your cake, please share how it was done?

Any ideas, or suggestions appreciated. Thanx!

Flowers for wedding cake topper......?
For the flowers on the top of a cake, choose the flowers you would like. Go to a craft store and find a styrofoam ball or florist green ball. Cut in half. Trim flowers and instert in ball. Put on top of cake.

Hope that helps, we did it to my daughters with fresh white roses and it came out perfect.

Congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Reply:We had them on top in an arrangement and a spray on wire down the side. They were real flowers.
Reply:The main question is how is the cake designed. If it is layered in tiers with columns separating each tier it is acceptable to place your floral selection from your wedding in between the tiers. Please keep in mind...fair warming, if you are using fresh flowers be careful because some flowers are toxic and could be deadly to place with a food item. We recommend using silk flowers for your floral display or have the decorator make edible flowers that have a realistic presentation.

If you would like for the topper to represent your floral choice, please purchase a topper platform at your local Walmart or a party supply store to separate the flowers from touching the cake.
Reply:I am using silk flowers as well, my mother used them for her wedding and her cake too, my aunt connected them so how and sat them in the middle of the top of the cake it looked gorgeous. congrats.
Reply:You can take the actual petal part off the stem, and attach it to your cake with icing.

That way you can have some draped down the side too, if you would like...you don't need the stems.
Reply:i did silk flowers on my cake too! i found a picture of a cake with flowers on that i loved and brought it to the bakery where my cake was being done. i had bought the silk flowers, and the bakery did it for me. make sure you are clear on how you want cake to look. congrates to you!!!
Reply:A lot of people put them under the cake board and then sit a cake topper on the board. If you wanted them to be the topper, I would arrange them in a half a ball and put them on top. I would put some through out the cake and around the base also.
Reply:25 years ago the florist did our cake topper with flowers by bundling and taping securely and close to blossoms then snip off the stems below the tape then just stuck the taped end in the top of the cake
