I love this centerpiece but I'm just wondering if anyone thinks it will work with faux flowers instead of real orchids. Thanks!

Is this wedding centerpiece possible with fake flowers?
Orchids are flowers that can look really good when they are fake... it depends on the quality.
Try finding a place where you can see them up close before your order them - internet photos can be misleading..
Reply:Get a stem of fakes and set it up; see how it looks after 6 hours and make your own decision. It might work beautifully!
Reply:I was hoping this was the picture you were going to post! Yes, it works! We are doing this same concept on every other table, so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought different fake flowers for a trial run.
Small flowers don't work...and long flowers with a long plastic stem (sort of like a cherry blossom or blue bonnet) don't work either. The plastic pushes up on the candle and makes the candle sit crooked in the vase.
Fake orchards do in fact work. Sometimes they raise up a little where you can't see all of each flower, but we found that 3 in the vase work and make it visible for each flower. It looks wonderful with the lights off and candle light.
Best of luck!
Reply:try to see what a fake magnolia looks like in the glass tube..
Reply:I dont see why it wouldnt but one thing to take into consideration, I dont know how much orchids are to get at the florists but if you're using fake flowers to cut down on costs, be careful of how much they cost. I when to Pat Catans yesterday to experiment with flowers for the ceremony %26amp; I got one put together without looking at the tags %26amp; there was $50 right there. I had only used 3 branches of flowers, 3 roses, and 2 things of greenery. So that can get expensive but if thats not a problem that hey, thats awesome =]
Those centerpieces are gorgeous! Congrats %26amp; good luck!
Reply:Definitely (so funny I was thinking of this at my wedding too!)... you can get fake orchids that are so realistic even when you touch it you're like "this is fake?!" speak to your decorator or florist and they'll let you know.
I also saw pics of this with underlighting (LED) so you can ask about that as well....it makes the entire thing glow nicely...not in a tacky way ;p
Reply:AHHH! That's one of my favorites! I'm using orchids also. No, you can't really get away with it. If those are the flowers for your centerpiece, you need to use real flowers. The artificial ones always look just a little bit off %26amp; usually have threads hanging from them. The cost is so minimal to have one stem floating in a vase, why would you go with artificial?
Reply:I would purchase some silk orchids and try the arrangement. You want to make sure that the candle never gets to the silk petals or you'll have problems. Also, check with your reception site to make sure you can have open flame centerpieces.
Reply:try afloral.com
they have some orchids on clearance right now that are white and a pinkish purple. they look awesome, i just ordered some for my head table.

Reply:It can probably work. You should try it out.
Reply:I think anything is possible with fake flowers these days, some of the things they can do is amazing. Yeah, im pretty sure you can even do it yourself, You can get like a shiny fabric material flower, sorry im not helping here lol. I bought some garland for my wedding, and i wet it accidently, and it was fine. Yeah, go to florists and take the pic, and ask them what they recommened.. they maybe go shopping for the stuff on ebay, thats where i got mine from the aussie ebay though, cause im from sydney. But yeah, even go to a junk shop, and buy some flowers, and the vase and try it youself, cant hurt to try can it, and you can play around with it, and see what happens. Hope i helped.
Reply:It looks pretty, and I think that it would work with faux orchids. Try it first, and if it works, then keep it. I'm sure that it will work though.
