I had round vases, sitting on round mirrors, added colored water, put in floating candles and then put 2 flower heads diagonally across from each other on the mirror. Very simple, but very elegant.
Suggestions for centerpieces (using minimal amount of flowers) at upscale wedding cocktail reception?
My wedding is in March and I am doing a tall vase with 4 cala lilies in each and 2 candles on each side. But I really like this: Ivy wraped around a larger candle holder. It is hard to explain, but it looks really elegant.
Reply:Why don't you do something with candles. Depending when your wedding is you could always use a pedestal with a bowl that has floating cansles and out seashells, glass bubbles or something themed around the ourside. Or jsut use s anice candelabra.
Reply:Who needs flowers?!?! Have a small cake made for each table the mimics the one you and your fiance are going to cut...using those as centerpieces will break the ice for guests and get them talking. Talk to your bakery and see if you can have a "mock cake" made...if your heart is set on 5 tiers, they can make the first 4 out of foam and cover it in fondant to make it look like cake. The top tier is the one you will cut and the only one edible. That way you won't have an overabundance of cake. and you won't have to pay a rediculous amount for everything...
Reply:Use candle trees....they are these wire trees with candle holders on the end of each branch. then just use a vine to wrap the bottom and you are all set....a word of advice....use Unscented candles though...
Reply:well, for my sisters wedding they used these tall, clear, cyllinder-like vases, with 3 long stem large white calla lilies.
it was so beautiful and elegant. and very simple.
Reply:Huge bowls of floating candles. Or a big display of those church candles, in varying sizes, the candles can be decorated with strings of beads.
Reply:Candelabra's look beautiful elegant and romantic.
Reply:I've seen some centerpieces that were gorgeous using tall tower vases and ostrich plumes. Check on theknot - lots of people have pictures of them in their bios. I've also seen them with palm fronds, which is neat too. The taller arrangements give more of a luxe feel, especially if you use lighting in the vases.
Reply:I would suggest mixing real with artificial if you are looking to cut down on cost. Sometimes the most beautiful centerpieces are the small ones! Check out :

Reply:a decorated bottle of champagne that they can enjoy during the wedding or take home, but my favorite (That no one else likes, hmmmm) is a white fantail goldfish or betta in a bubble bowl with clear pebbles at the base.
Reply:if you don't want to use candles, you could use more simple vases that hold a single flower with some greens. Using a couple of those together can look nice. Also You could do a candle and use frames (2-6)depending on size of table and frame, with pictures of you and your spouse. there are a lot of options besides flowers. Even if you did complete arrangments using different types of greens.
Reply:Rose petals with color themed candles would be affordable and beautiful.
Reply:Mint Julep cups can add elegance to any occasion and you can use just about anything for filler around the flowers.
