The colors in the wedding are grey and yellow. But, it is not a bright flashy yellow, but a soft butter type of yellow. A lot of the yellow flowers we see are super bright yellow, and we don't want that. Any suggestions? The bride is looking toward yellow roses, but again, doesn't want a bright yellow to blind people. It is an outdoor rustic wedding in the summer in South Dakota.
What would be a good wedding color flower palette for this theme?
Since it an outdoor, rustic wedding, I would consider a wildflower bouquet. Pale yellow buttercup, smooth yellow false foxglove, moth mullein, or yellow stargrass, as the main/feature flower wth complimentary wild flowers and greenery tied with a flowing ribbon.
Reply:roses can come in a very "muted" yellow. it's softer and pale.
Reply:yellow roses would be beautiful, also yellow tulips or daisies always look good...yellow calla lilies would be great too....there are just so many great choices, you should go and see a florist they would be able to help you best.
Reply:She needs to get in touch with a professional florist. Not an FTD florist but someone who knows what they're doing.
Flower suggestions that come in varyong shades of yellow: sunflowers, daffodils, tulips, jsut to name a few.
Reply:there are different kinds of yellow daisies. Even the white daisy with yellow middle would look so pretty and classic.
I like tulips because they are simple looking. The simple-ness would tone down the color by default.
Reply:Well, since grey is in there, you could go with pale yellow Iris, lavander Iris, and yellow and lavander hydrangea.
Are you using silk? If not, you'll either be limited by what's growing locally at the time, or have a huge bill for out of season flowers.
If silk, you could go with pale yellow jonqils and ivy.
How about silk forsythia?
How about little nosegays of yellow and blue violets? Tied with grey ribbons.
Reply:any yellow is great, but beware of the grey - it will look all 80's and drab and dated...
I suggest looking at some white/off-white flowers to help with your yellow. Take a look at some varieties of tulips and lillies. There are some that are paler and not so bright. If it is outdoor, try supplementing centerpieces with fruit that might be that pale color.
Reply:How about yellow frangipanes? Not sure if they are in season for you at that time though.
Reply:What about some yellow cymbidium orchids? They are soft, subtle and very beautiful, like these:
