Do you recommend having a florist do my flowers for my wedding or just do them myself?

I'm trying to save as much money as i can but still want the flowers to look beautiful. If you paid a florist, how much was it for everything? If you made them yourself, how much did you pay? Just trying to get a comparison. Thanks for you help!!

Do you recommend having a florist do my flowers for my wedding or just do them myself?
If you are using silk flowers, find a craft store locally and see if one of the vendors make wedding flowers. I had my daughter's wedding flowers made by a lady that owns a small craft store in our town. They were absolutely beautiful!!! She received so many compliments on the flowers. The lady made the bouquets, boutineers, corsages for the mothers and the baskets for the altar in the church. The cost was only $240.00!! A friend's daughter had live flowers at her wedding, and they were VERY EXPENSIVE. The flowers started to wilt before the wedding ceremony began. The silks can be kept as a momento of your special day.
Reply:if you do them your self and you are a good crafter i would say save yourself all that money for other things like a photographer!!!! :)
Reply:Well both are good ideas and doing yourself will save you the money. I say do it yourself.
Reply:I'm doing them myself and have practiced to see what it would look like and its not that hard at all. They turned out exactly what I wanted! Good luck.
Reply:I had one of my dad's friends put my flowers together, we used fake silk flowers and with my bouquet and the two brides maids, then two smaller ones and all of the boutonnieres we spent about $30.
Reply:I say PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE if you've never done it before. It's not always as easy as it looks. Remember how many flowers you used and time how long it takes...just for future reference. Also place them in a cold area and see how long they last and if they look good enough to where you can do them before the big day. One less thing to stress about. Also, if you are using real flowers on your wedding day, practice with real flowers. Using the fake ones are completely different in arranging...I promise. It is usually cheaper to do them yourself...especially if you can find whole sale flowers (Sams Club) to purchase flowers in bulk!

Good luck. I'm sure it will look beautiful and I hope this helps answer your question.
Reply:If you are trying to save money do them yourself that way you can do them however you want and make it look expensive and not cost near as much
Reply:Well in my opinion a flourist would be very expensive.

Just buy the materials needed.

and do them yourself!

that way you can have it made anyway you want.

I did the buckaners and table bouquets for my sisters wedding.

Its great fun when you have friends and family (possibly

some good music as well) help you.

That way there is conversation and music if the convo. is

bad.
Reply:It depends on how many flowers you want. If you just want a bouquet for yourself, some flowers for the bridesmaids and such then you could do it yourself. If you want to decorate the site with flowers however I would say hire a florist. Keep in mind that the week of V-day (as we florist call it) will be more expensive flowers wise. If you do not require large arrangements you might consider calling several florist on the 15th to place your order. They may be eager to unload unsold flowers on you for a lower cost.
Reply:Use silk flowers and ask your girlfriends and your family members that are artist to help. We saved alot of money doing that on my wedding.
Reply:A family friend made mine as a gift to us for our wedding. I chose the items and colors and she made the arrangements. They were all silk and they turned out beautifully. 6 years later I still have 2 of the bridesmaids bouquets on my mantel as decorations.
Reply:well depending on your colors, you may be able to get some flowers on clearance. the ones for valentines...like reds pinks or whites. Stick with silk...they are cheaper than real and you wont have to worry about refrigerating them or anything like that. I say go for it...you will save alot more than if a florist did them. I live in a small town and a very cheap florist wanted to charge me aroung 1000 just for hydrangeas and cream roses. do it yourself...you will be happier and its fun making stuff yourself. Good luck!
Reply:I was lucky my sister n law loves to do that kind of stuff and I'm not much into flowers....I told her the only thing was that I wanted a tall vase and the flowers had to be maroon.....any kind would do...as long as they were maroon...she did a beautiful classy job...my mom loves to do crafts so I got all the supplies and she made my other table decorations....she loved it. hope this helps In other words get some family/friends/bridal party to help you out.
Reply:Considering I did just about everything else for my wedding, I'm glad I hired a florist. I paid about 800$, but saved a ton in anxiety and stress! I told him that I wanted a summer arrangement of wildflowers and I had to have the orange tiger lilies. They were so much better than I could have ever imagined. Good Luck.
Reply:Honey go for it have your girlfriends and you non help you if you think you can do it, or if you know some who is talented to help out Check out your local book store Or go to Barnes and Noble I think they should have book to help you out If I remember right I think I paid between $275.00 and $375.00 But that was in 2000. All the best to you.
Reply:If you go to http://www.wedding-savings-for-bride-gro... you can fill out a form and have up to 4 florists give you prices for what you want. You can then decide whether or not to use any of them or do your own.

There is no cost for this service or obligation to use any of those responding
Reply:$75 per centerpiece. Bright and dark red roses, with red carnations as filler.

$100 for bride's flowers.

This is what our florist charged 3 years ago.
Reply:I'd probably buy some online, and save myself the stress.

Reply:If you enjoy doing flowers and the like, do them yourself. I'm sure your bridesmaids will help you with them when it comes time to do them. It will save you money. Choose simple arrangements that don't require floral foam or wiring, so transporting them won't be a problem.

I'm doing my own and pretty much am doing the entire wedding for the price of my bouquet and my MOH bouquet at a florist.
Reply:it depends. do you think you (and hopefully your female entourage) can handle arranging the flowers the day before the wedding? another option is fake flowers and having a store like ac moore, michaels do it for free (with purchase of the supplies). another option is buying flowers wholesale and giving them to a florist to have them arranged. the cost of a florist depends on the region of the country you live. here in nyc, i got a "deal" at 2700.
Reply:You are going to have a lot of stress if you try to do everything. If there are garden clubs in your town, call one of the members and tell her what you hope to accomplish. They do flower arrangements all the time and they will be beautiful. Just ask these questions of the member. Perhaps they can be of help.
Reply:Hi There

There is a wedding flowers price guide on this website

http://www.myweddingflowerideas.co.uk/we...

That would help you to make a list to get a rough idea of the overall budget - if you let your florist know your budget and the flowers that you want then most good florists should work with you to get beautiful flowers for a price you can afford to pay.

If you send your list to at least three florists it can help you ensure you are getting good value for money.

It can be a lot of work making all your own flowers and storing them properly to keep them fresh can be a bit of a headache - it could also ruin your manicure!

Perhaps to save some money you could make your table decorations, keeping them simple in style and leave the bouquets to the florist.

There are also some designs on the links below to give you a few ideas.
Reply:Don't you have enough to deal with I am a freelance florist and give yourself a break .I would think you could find someone, like myself to help you with this task.Look around find the right person. You will be surprised at who could help with this. Some Church's offer a flower guild. And check out your local garden club. for a small donation they might could help you out.
Reply:Unless you are willing to use silks I very much reccomend a florist for three reasons:

1. You aren't a pro, they know how to make sure the flowers are opened just right and looking perfect the day of and how to keep them from wilting as the night goes on

2. Storage, to stay fresh flowers need to be refrigerated and out of the sun the night before so unless you own a resturant with a big fridge...

3. Transportation, you can't squish them and putting them together at the site the day of is risky business and usually ends up with a huge migrane or bad results.

Go to florsits in the area and comparision shop. I'd also put out an ad on craigslist. There are bound to be people willing to do the flowers at a discount that are just starting to get their name out there. They will help you find flowers within your budget and your colors. Also discreetly ask the clerks who work at the shops if they might be willing to moonlight if you provide the flowers.

Use more greenery than flowers, choose blooms that are local and in season. If you want tulips in January they have to be flown from Holland so obviously will cost much more than if it was spring time. Also avoid holiday's....flower prices tend to quadruple around things like Mother's day and Valentines.
Reply:If you have the talent, do them yourself. Save money and have that personal touch as well.
Reply:All I can tell you is that my mom and I did the flowers for my twin sisters wedding and it was a lot of work! We did save well over 600.00 over what the florist wanted. The best part was that the flowers we used were silk so we still have them in our homes. The real flowers were expensive and they did not keep. Good luck in your what ever you chose. :)
Reply:If you have the time and energy, do it yourself. You can also get your friends and family together to help you, make it a party! That is what I did and it was so much fun. I have no clue how much it would cost to pay someone else, but I'm sure it will be way too much.
Reply:A Florist, you don't want to deal with it...you'll have other things to do.
Reply:Perhaps there are services you can "trade?" Meaning, maybe someone close to you can do the flower arrangements themselves since they have the talent -- then that would be their gift to you. Always works for me to trade specialties!

Best of luck!
Reply:We saved a ton of money by having a grocery store florist do our flowers! They turned out beautiful at literately a fraction of what the regular florists wanted. They even threw in an extra bouquet for me to toss! At least look into it, our local chain was Publix.
Reply:are you using silks or real. I do silks and could probelly save you a bundle, let me know soon, if you would like to talk about me doing them, that is a busy time of the year for flowers.
