Yes.

But it also depends on what kind of flowers you are getting. If you are wanting something that is really exotic, it will be more expensive any time of the year. But if you are getting something that is standard, then it actually might be a little bit cheaper because the florist is buying flowers in bulk due to the holiday.

Given that, make sure you get any quotes in writing with all costs in black and white on paper. You might find better deals with wholesalers or even some internet sites. (But not florist sites cuz they overcharge anyway.)



Another thought might be to go with greenery and accent the plants with flowers for touches of color. It would probably be less expensive.
Reply:I believe it depends on what flowers you are getting. While surely there will be some mark up due to the holiday, you might also get a discount due to your large volume. Getting flowers in their season and in your region is usually more cost efficient.

And things are not more expensive because they are for a wedding. The reason that some people think that wedding flowers are more expensive is because of the amount of labor that is involved. It takes three times as much time to make a bridal bouquet than it does to make a vase arrangement.



Talk to your florist and tell them what flowers you are thinking of using. They can give you some ideas of what will be less expensive in May. Spring flowers, for example, are in season and very reasonable this time of year.

Reply:No...I got married last May and spent about $500 on all of my flowers, which included my bridal bouquet, 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 6 jr bridesmaid bouquets, 4 corsages, 8 boutenairres, throwaway bouquet (for toss), candlabra arrangement, and 2 arrangements for the church......plus bows for the pews.......just dont get married ON Mother's Day and you should be fine! (I got married on Memorial Day weekend)
Reply:Yes, flowers always go up during the holidays. It also depends on what type of flowers that you are getting. Silk flowers are great because you can keep them forever this is what i used and I loved them. They looked real! They are on my 360 page. My mother made them for me.
Reply:Yes, flowers are most expensive around Valentine's %26amp; Mother's days. Example, roses come in bunches of 25. Last year a bunch was going for $35.50 the week of Valentine's Day at the wholesaler. At the end of March when I got married a bunch was $19.75. That said, a good florist can get you just about any flower at any time of year but anything that is not in season is going to be expensive. I wanted some peonies but at $7.50/stem I decided to stick with roses.

Reply:As a florist I know that flower prices do increase during holidays. But if your florist doesn't rake you, she will point you in the direction of the less expensive flowers during this time. Most florists do not do weddings during this time because they are so busy. It depends on where you live and your relationship with your vendor.
