I want to use calla lilles for my beach wedding.
They have large ones I could use for my bridesmaids, where they could just hold a few a piece????
But would it look bad for me to carry them as well, but only smaller calla lillies in a bouquet or about 10-15???
The lady at the flower shop says my flowers should not be smaller than the bridesmaids in the pictures???
HELP!!! What should I do??????
Wedding Flowers?? Calla Lillies?
use the big lillies in your bouquet and use the smaller ones for the bridesmaids
EDIT: i agree with corinne1029 - leave the cattails out of it
and i also agree with wrtrchk - add roses if you want an extra type of flower
Reply:give them the small ones in a boquet and then you carry the larger ones, maybe as an arm bouquet that would be nice.
Reply:I used calla lillies in my wedding. My bridesmaids had three large ones a blue flower to accentuate our colors. In my bouquet I had large white calla lillies and white roses with rhinestone stems. So you can have the same floral theme, just give yours a lot more pizazz! Good luck!
Reply:It doesnt matter which callas you use, as long as the overall size of the bouquets are not larger than yours. Then again, your bouquet also depends on your body size and dress style (big bouquet, tiny bride, not good). What colors are you using? Honestly, I think callas look best in a simple bouquet, and Im not a fan of the arm bouquets (but thats just me). Take a look at what I did. I think my callas turned out great.

Reply:Well I have to agree with your florist. Here are some suggestions:
Your bridesmaids can carry 1 large lilly (on their arm) - I guess they call it an arm bouquet? I have seen this and it looked nice, just have a nice satin ribbon tied on it. OR.... have them carry a small bouquet of calla lillies.
For you, I would have a large bouquet - I think they call it a cascading bouquet. I know these aren't really popular now, but it would look so pretty. My daughter had one with calla lillies, white roses, etc. Very pretty!!!
But...it's YOUR WEDDING! You do what you want.....if you want to be all the same, there is no written rule that you can't!!
Reply:Use the big lillies for yourself and the smaller ones for your bridesmaids. Or just all use the same size. Then make their bouquets smaller by using few flowers and/or having the stems cut shorter.
The lady in the flower shop is right - you dont want the bridesmaids' bouquets to be more impressive than yours.
Personally, I think mixing elegant, classy callas with cat tails (which always look like overcooked corn dogs to me) is a bad idea. If you want to mix the callas with something else, talk to you florist about what would look good.
Reply:Calla Lilies are gorgeous!!!!
And for a beach wedding they would be perfect....
But i have to agree with the lady at the flower shop...
Yours should be bigger....

smaller calla lillies for the bridesmaids :)
Have a beautiful wedding!! And lots of happiness!!!
Reply:I agree with the first answer. A few years ago a friend of mine got married and she carried about 5 longstem cala's wrapped with a ribbon and that was her boquet. She also had long stem cala's and bear grass in tall vases as her center pieces.
Reply:The bride's bouquet should always be the largest and nicest.
It can be unique or can be a larger version of the bridesmaids.
If you want callas, use the large ones (they only come in white) for your bouquet. If you want color in yours, I would suggest adding some mini callas in an appropriate color along with your larger ones.
For the bridemaids, they can carry smaller mini callas in the same mixture of white / color as yours, or just all one color.
You need to decide what style your bouquet will be. Hand-tied, round, arm bouquet...
Your florist should be able to help you with that.
