How do you know what flowers to pick for your wedding?

This is my first wedding and I don't know how to plan a wedding so I need to know how and what stuff to pick out.

How do you know what flowers to pick for your wedding?
Honestly, if you aren't dead set on any certain types of flowers, and you don't know a lot about wedding planning, I'd highly suggest asking around for references of great florists, and then go to the florst and talk about their ideas, and ask to see pictures of weddings they have done in the past. Tell them what you want the general look/feel of your wedding to be, and then see what they come up with. They are afterall, professionals.
Reply:Pick flowers that coordinate with your colors. To be honest, I think a bouquet of cream colored flowers look the best. Tasteful and not screaming out at you. When I married I originally chose cream colors and added some blue flower into the bouquet. When I saw it I did not like it and had them simply pull the flowers out. It was a beautiful bouquet! Simple and elegant. That, in my opinion, is always the best choice regarding the whole wedding. Congratulations!
Reply:theknot.com recently added a fantastic flower section. It talks about price ranges of flowers, scent descriptions, symbolisms, what seasons they are found in, etc. And they have a TON of photos. My advice is, just sit and look at as many photos from their flower galleries as possible. See what looks good with your colors...what you are naturally drawn to.

For a less expensive route, try to select flowers that are common in your wedding's season and in your part of the country.

There's no hard-and-fast rule about it-just do a lot of perusing of photos and find something you like, and something that suits your colors. Have fun with it!
Reply:I'm picking my favorite flowers. They're my favorite flowers b/c they're my favorite colors! Everything else is based on that.
Reply:you base your flowers on what colors are in the ceremony. like, what color are the bridesmaid dresses. just go to the florist and they'll recommend stuff to you based on your colors. I actually used Kroger for my flowers and they were gorgeous and quite a bit cheaper.
Reply:Choose your colors, and then choose what flowers go with those colors. So, if you choose lavender and yellow, you can have lavender roses, or yellow roses, or any other purple or yellow flower. If you choose orange and black, you can have pretty orange flowers. Talk with a florist and also consider price in your decisions. Also, consider artificial flowers, so you can use them again and again, and lend them out to your friends for their weddings.
Reply:There are a ton of sites you can search through for flower ideas. Try doing "wedding floral arrangements" on google and see if you can find any flowers you particularly like.



I would contact all of your local florist, set up a meeting of some sort, and see their portfolios of wedding arrangements they have done. You may actually switch colors if you like a certain flower but typically most women go pick flowers based on their colors they have picked. Once you have found the flowers you like figure out what you need, bouquets, centerpieces, how many, and then get prices from EVERYONE then go from there. You might realize you don't need a ton of centerpieces and you only want to do flowers for your bridal party.



Word of advice I wouldn't go hog wild with flowers though since they can get super super pricey and that can drain your budget fast. You can do nice simple arrangements for not a lot of money if you shop around.



I'm going to pass this site on because it's really neat for other planning ideas I wish I had had it when I had gotten married I would have done everything differently! It doesn't really go with the flowers but since you are new at the planning you might find it of some use!
Reply:you have to know what are the names of the flowers and you have to ask for some advise from your mum/dad or your friends.
Reply:There are many great websites online with pictures of wedding flowers, google and see what you can find that is similar to what you may like for your wedding. Also, look at bridal magazines for inspirational pics. If this doesn't help you, then go to a local florist (or get recommended florists) in your area to have a consultation with you to discuss types of flowers that are in and out of season during the time of your wedding and their costs. Reply:I went with my favorite flowers. Daisies. My bouquet is white daisies and my bridesmaids will have yellow daisies. The groomsmen will have boutineeres coordinating with the bouquets. Its an outdoor garden wedding so we aren't getting more flowers than than. We also are going to go to our local farmers market and get some wild flowers to put in some vases at the food and drink tables. Its whatever you want to have and whatever you choose. Reply:Pick whatever you want. I love red roses, and wanted a very elegant wedding, so I am having only red roses.

Just think of a theme/color/idea you want, and go with it. If you want a fairy princess wedding, use lots of white and pink flowers, and run with it. If you want a elegant wedding, stick with more classic looks. If you want something fun and different, try a different color scheme, like mint and brown, or a fun theme, like casino night or something.

Do whatever YOU and YOUR FIANCE want.
Reply:your florist will help you. usually they will go with what is in season at the time of your wedding (which will also be the most economical) but if you like another flower, then most florists are able to get what you want when you want it.
Reply:Congrats! So, if you're not getting married around Vday, roses are a good way to go. Less expensive that most other flowers and classic beauty! When you meet with the florist, he/she can tell you what flowers are in season. Depending on the style, formal/casual, time of day, the florist can make suggestions if you ask.
Reply:I would pick out flowers that you like best. Florists can always dye the flowers to your color choice. :)
