Do people normally use fake or real flowers for their wedding?

Do I make all the flowers real, all the flowers fake? Or a mix? What should be fake and what shouldn't be?

I personally think that those silk flowers that look like raindrops are on them are beautiful! They would be gorgeous for your wedding. I'd make them all small flowers for your bouquet then, for the bridesmaids, let theirs be long stemmed ones so they can carry them on their forearm, not as a bouquet. Yours should be a nice bouquet, theirs long on their forearm. Then you ALL will be able to have them as keepsakes for YEARS to come!

Reply:I would say hands down ALL REAL flowers. If you do half %26amp; half it will look tacky and all fake flowers are cheap looking. Theroeticly you only get married once. Spend a little extra and get exactly what you want.
Reply:I would say that all flowers that are used in the wedding party should be real, bouquets and the flowers for the groomsmen, but silk flowers could be appropriate for centerpieces if you are going that way.
Reply:Usually, all fresh real flowers, since it's such a special occasion. However, there's nothing wrong with using lovely silk flowers. I would think it would be fine to have the bouquets fresh flowers, yet have the centrepieces and other decor items be silk flowers.

Fake flowers just look... well, fake. :P If cost is a concern, when choosing your flowers, pick something that's in season and don't feel like it always needs to be roses. Talk to your florist about what's in season so you know your options. You could pick a very simple flower -- even something as basic as a carnation -- and bundle them tightly together for a bouquet and find decorative elements like little jeweled branches or sparkly add-on's to give it visual interest. If you're looking for flower centerpieces, maybe it doesn't even need to be flowers -- candles arranged in a tasteful way can be a lovely centerpiece.
Reply:I recently posted a question related to this. I think the general consensus was real is always better. There are cases where people are allergic to flowers, or want to save the bouquets, and then fake would work.

IMO, real is the way to go- if money is an issue, limit the flowers you buy, but make them real.
Reply:in the good old days all flowers were real...now i think that the fake silk flowers are lovely and more affordable than real.. the real flowers do not last very long. so i would blend both together and will still be pretty for the wedding..after the wedding one could use them for gifts to bride maids, and family or you could keep them for your own place. the brides and maids,ushers should be real, but the decorations could be silk flowers and table settings could be fake with one real flower in the middle... hope this helps

Reply:all real! I think silk flowers are for older people. It could be helpful to make bouquets yourself in advance, but they might cost more overall. I'm going for a natural outdoors wedding, so real flowers fit nicely. You can find big sales on silks at hobby lobby and michaels if you choose to go fake. If you choose to go real, find a FLOWERAMA of AMERICA near you. They are the best and you'll find the prices to be realistic. Choose the decor that fits your wedding setting, not what everyone else says.

When my aunt was married she used fake flowers as her bouquet (as well as her bridesmaids and flower girls). I thought it was a good idea, because you could keep them afterward and they always look beautiful.

I am having my bouquet fake. But the rest of the flowers will be fresh.
Reply:i think that it depends on what can be afforded. two of my friends used silk and were beautiful. they were also able to make them themselves. if it can be afforded, specialists say that brides should allow more of the budget to go towards real flowers and to have a florist make everything so it is one more thing the bride does not have to worry about. I have been watching a lot of wedding shows LOL!
Reply:I don't even like fake flowers for the house. All real, I've never seen fake flowers at a wedding before. Very tacky I think.
Reply:Most people use real flowers. I would never mix real and fake because people will be able to tell the difference. Either use all real or all fake.
Reply:I used silk flowers for my bouquet. I really liked Calla Lillies and the real ones were so expensive. The bouquet turned our more beautiful than if I had done real flowers. The store I had it done at specializes in silk wedding bouquets and they are always busy with orders so it's more common than you think.
Reply:I think it depends on your budget. I brought silk flowers and they are just gorgeous. It also depends on where you go to get them, if they look cheesy then no don't them but if they are gorgeous like the ones I got then yes get them. I chose not to get the real ones because the florist in my area will be delivering them Saturday morning to my house, my wedding is on a Sunday afternoon and they will be dead by then.
