Anyone using fake flowers for their wedding?

Has anyone used artificial flowers for bouquets or centerpieces at their wedding? Was it obvious? Did your guests notice?

Anyone using fake flowers for their wedding?
I'm using fake flowers. I got my bouquet, the MOH bouquet, and the groom and best man boutonniere at http://www.wedideas.com I love them! :D
Reply:They have such good quality fakes these days...if people are going to focus on that. They shouldnt have come!

Do what you can afford, and what you'll be happy with.
Reply:my dad did and every one knew they thought it was cheesy and cheap..... sorry but i personally don't think it looks good you can tell the difference!
Reply:That is 99.9% what I have used for all weddings.

If made properly - a person usually cannot tell the difference unless they touch the flower.

The artificial flowers can be incredibley beautiful

All the guests have ooed %26amp; ahhhed over the flowers ... the Bride ^ Groom did the same.

I made all the flowers, the center peaces, the cakes, the cake tops, the candles ... just about everything .. and it was all gorgeous. I have even used the flowers in the wedding cake .. and in some groom cakes.
Reply:I used fake flowers at my wedding. I actually didn't care if the guests noticed or not, it was what I could afford at the time. But I was also working under a floral designer and she totally helped me out on prices %26amp; designs. Do what you want, some of these answers are totally off base.

I actually know a couple whose wedding debt after the honeymoon was so great it literally ended the marriage before the 2nd anniversary. Use artificial if that is what is in your budget; don't blow your budget over what people will think.
Reply:I used silk flowers, and I am sure people knew they were silk, but I think they came out beautifully! My bridesmaids and I did their bouquets but I had mine made by a florist (mine was really expensive!) A lot of people will tell you that silk flowers are cheesy and to only go with real, but not everyone can have real (I have severe allergies). Many florists that design with silks can make you bouquets that you would never know the difference. Bottom line is go with what you want!
Reply:We are using fake flowers for the bouquets. just because it is cheaper and I am having an outside wedding. Trying to avoid bees.

I have been to a couple of wedding with fake flowers. To me it is just as pretty. if we could attach photos I would show you my matron of honors flowers.
Reply:It's a real wedding, why would you have fake flowers?
Reply:My daughter just got married this fall. We bought our flowers at Walmart, and put them all together ourselves. We had lots of complements on the flowers. Many of the guests could not believe they were not real.

We did not have any flowers in the centerpieces.
Reply:I've never had a wedding, considering I'm 13, but I helped my brother and my sister-in-law plan their wedding, because I was their flower girl.

And my advice is, if you looking for something cheap, go with fake. Yes, their a little tacky and guests may notice, but why guests should care about the flowers? WHO KNOWS?? they should be focusing on the bride and the groom which will look ah-mazing in her wedding dress.

But if you want real flowers, it will look more....professional (i guess that word can fit it), but real flowers smell better, and make the room smell more...flowery.

Sorry if my advice didn't help. I'm 13, don't know much about weddings. =]

EDIT: plus, fake flowers, I don't think anyone would care. Their just flowers for pete's sake! LOL.
Reply:Despite what people say, I don't think fake flowers look tacky. Besides, you can use them later in decorating your house or whatever. I would have preferred fake flowers to real ones just for that reason.
Reply:I'm using all silk flowers in my wedding and my cousin did in hers and honestly I had no idea her flowers were fake until I stood right next to her and stared them down. The flowers they showed me at the floral shop also looked incredibly real for being silk.

Think about this, the nice think about fake (silk) flowers is that you will have them forever so you can have the great memory of your day any time you want without having to pull out a photo album (or digital file on your computer)!

Out of curiosity, any reason you are looking for fake flowers? I only know I am due to allergies.
Reply:no way!
Reply:my mom used fake roses for her bouquet and like flowers she pin into the guys..I dont think they noticed to much... She likes having fake bouquet and all that cause those are things she got to keep for the memories
Reply:that was so long ago i cannot remember flowers.
Reply:Yes, lots of brides do. If they are done nicely...like 1 color of roses, then that is fine. The problem is that some do a big huge bouquet of many, many flowers and, well, they look FAKE!

Also, sometimes silks are not cheaper! Look at this simple bouquet titled "pink roses to carry" (about 2/3 down on the left side of this link.) I think it is so elegant and it would not cost much for 3 roses and a ribbon:

You can buy roses from places like Walmart and Costco for $10/dozen. You can even special order your quantity and color!
Reply:no I take it from my neighbor's yard
Reply:I had an artificial nosegay made for my daughters wedding only because of the uncertain timing. The flowers lasted longer than the marriage.
Reply:No, why would you use fake flowers its your one very special day in your like don't spoil it with plastic plants. And yes the guests will notice especially when you through the bouquay the ladies will be like " what the hell is this fake flower" my opinion is DONT USE THE FAKE GO WITH REAL!
Reply:mix them so u get a more natural feeling unless ur allergic it a grat idea :)
Reply:my cousin did, and if you get the right kind they will be less obvious...
Reply:im sure people do but real ones smell much better
Reply:No, they didn't notice till they had a closer look at them. They liked them better than real ones as u get to keep them forever.
Reply:I used a mixture of real and fake silk flowers for mine and you couldn't tell the difference! But that was only for the decorations. The bouquets, boutonnières, dinner tables decors and cake flowers were all real.
Reply:Fake is never the genuine thing dear heart. Of course guests would notice. My suggestion would be to have the real flowers and choose among those that are in season when the wedding will take place. After all, your wedding is a very special day in your life.

However for centerpieces, there are some beautiful silk flowers that look just like the real thing and would do for the winter months because the real flowers are generally expensive. It all depends on your budget and what is important to YOU...

Congratulations.
Reply:I am using fake flowers for the bouquets, and real flowers for the alter. One less thing I have to arrange to have picked up the day of.
Reply:always notice looks tacky
Reply:I don't know. I would prefer ral, since it is only one day, but I guess you can go either way.
Reply:no everything should be real in a wedding
Reply:no is mor romantic realer flower
Reply:Okk... that is really weird, i dont think you should ever do that. That is duscting, and disrespectful to u and ur friends. You need to get some real flowers...
