Baby Girl Names? Do it yourself wedding ideas?

I have 2 questions:

1. What do you think of the name Audrey Mae, or Audra Mae? Do you have any other ideas for little girls?

2. My wedding is in Aug of 2008, but Im planning now! Any ideas for do it yourself wedding flowers, or favor ideas? I want to have a very elegant wedding, but I want to keep it cheap (as in cost). Ideas?

Baby Girl Names? Do it yourself wedding ideas?
for the bridesmaids they can carry a single long stem flower in thier arms (real are cheaper then the real like silk for this)..or they can carry a small bouquet of 3 or 5 flowers just tied with some pretty ribbon...

you can make them large bouquets yourself..hit a craft store and ask for for the round bouquet holder (i cant remember the name) and then buy assorted flowers and greenery to place in it) you can make your own or if you want a real one..you can find them at great prices online at like..1800flowers.com

you can buy the 5 dollar already made bouquets from walmart and use pretty ribbons n stuff too

for favors..you have to have bubbles of course..buy em from ebay..cheapest youll get them..orientialtrading.com you can get little wedding bags..fill em with some cheap candies or favorite candies..and then just get some lil name tag paper and print your names and date on them...

most of my favors my mom made...it was like a firefighter theme..meet aqua/silver stars lol..(we were married in my husbands fire station) so she bought plain wood firetrucks and stars and fire hydrants and she painted them...put some glitter on some..used clear address labels with our names and dates on em..centered them and slapped a magnet on the back she also did the same thing with tiny shapes and drilled holes in them..and they were keychains..we were getting compliments all night and for weeks after about our wedding favors..everyone loved em..

we didnt do flowers on our tables because we are just not flower people..so we bought these star shaped silver pieces of cardboard..i think they were like 10 inches..and placed them in the middle of our table..and we used assorted sizes and shapes of candles with wedding color theme ribbons around them..and put them on the stars (way cheaper then buying mirrors and they come in lots of shapes) and then we put some flower petals around the candles...we used star confetti all the way down the table..we bought the silver..and my bridesmaids and i punched out the aqua stars...

we are still being told that we held the best wedding and reception that anyone has been to..fun wise/pretty wise

im just happy i proved his family wrong lol!

my husband and i had a very elegant looking wedding..and all of these ideas are budget friendly and can be set to your own theme/colors..if you need any help feel free to email me or add me to yahoo msger..i have a ton of ideas..and lots of left over wedding stuff id be more then happy to ship off to you!
Reply:I prefer Audra Mae. I always said if I ever had a little girl, I wanted to name her Eden. But, seeing as how I can't find a suitable father type, that is probably never gonna happen! :)

As for the wedding, I have no idea, but good luck on that! Congrats, btw....
Reply:Audrey Mae flows a little better. I also like Ella Mae.

In response to #2, I have practically done every cost saving thing I could while planning my wedding. A great suggestion on flowers is to go to Sams Club. You would not believe the variety and freshness of their flowers. Then simply buy ribbon and florist wire and you can make your own hand tied bouquets. It will save you hundreds!
Reply:Audrey reminds me of that girl on National Lampoon's Vacation. Why do you want to name a baby some old ladies name like that?(audra mae?)

I eloped so I don't have the foggiest about weddings!
Reply:I love Audra Mae (I knew an Audrey in school, which turns me off to that name, but I love Audra!).

It's not too difficult to do the flowers yourself. Look in your phone book for wholesale florists. There are a couple in my area, and I have already gotten a lot of good advice from them! Often, they have classes in how to build bouquets, and will give advice for free...they will also have good prices on the supplies you'll need. Most pertinent to your question is that they have said that flowers for a Saturday wedding can easily be put together on Wednesday or Thursday, if you have appropriate refrigerator space for them.

One of the ideas I have recently seen on this site that would make it simple, is to have the bridesmaids each carry a single flower. If you go with flowers that are large and/or showy (such as a calla lily), this is super easy, and exceptionally elegant. It's also very easy, btw, to put together a gorgeous calla lily bouquet for the bride, by simply tying a bow around half a dozen two-foot long stems. A friend of ours recently did this, and it was beautiful.

My vote is to skip favors all together. The more I read on this site and others, the more I realize that almost no one really wants them.

P.S.

You sound as if you think it's too early to start planning, when in reality, it's almost too late! You should get busy and be sure to firm up your ceremony %26amp; reception locations, as these are likely to be booked up at least a year in advance!
Reply:how about zoe or ashley mabey even hannah or miley

well you have to buy a beautifle dress
Reply:I dont really like the name audra too old for me! What about Kayleigh Mae?? Anyways as long as you make the flowers yourself it will still be on the cheapside! If you have a family member with a green thumb they can probably grow them for you for august!!! Skip the favors!! Congrats!!!
Reply:Hi,

I am answering the question concerning the baby girl's names. Audrey is okay, but I like the names Anna, Ashleigh, Alyssa, and Amanda better. Another factor is to research the derivation of the the name and what does the name mean. Also, does the name suit the child throughout her life? You don't want to choose names that sound too childish when she grows to adulthood, but sounds too "old" for a baby.

Personally, I don't like Mae because it sounds a little old fashioned and almost hillbillyish. Also, it's important to consider the initials that will result from the 3 names being put together. Do the initials spell a word that would be embarrassing? On a final note, I would not choose the name Mae especially if you last name is a verb. Then her name will sound like a sentence. For example, Audrey Mae Tripp...
Reply:I like the names.

For the wedding ideas...do a search on Answers...this question has been asked over 100 times...
Reply:I like Audrey Mae better than Audra Mae. It is very pretty.

I don't know where you live, but in August where I live there are tons of wild flowers blooming just out of town. Getting all of your friends and family to let you borrow their house plants to decorate, along with vases of wildflowers would be pretty. I've seen it done a couple of times very nicely. If you do it, make sure you have the florist incorporate the wild flowers you are using on the tables and wedding bouquets, in the bridal and brides maid's bouquets. These, I think, you should not do yourself unless you or a friend or family member has a particular talent for it.

Also, you can save on photography costs by getting a friend who is good with a camera to do the pictures. You should get them a gift and pay them something, but not the cost it will be to hire a professional photographer.

Congratulations.
Reply:I like Audrey OR Audra Mae. But our opinions aren't what counts. It's whatever you and your husband like, so long as it's a normal name. Now as far as they way you planned things, the fact that you are actually getting married is what counts.

My advice for a wedding would be to find a church you like, become members, and they'll often do it for free. I borrowed a friends dress. We rented a volunteer fire dept hall for $20. I purchased 4 blank birthday cakes at the last minute due to the cake I made for my dad's special diet fell apart, all but the top tier, so he ate that. We got gold wedding bands from Wal Mart for $200 total. The ladies at our church made the finger foods. I told them they can make what they want. We had fake flowers. We didn't have a dance, so no need for a DJ. We had a non alcoholic wedding.
Reply:i dont like that mae is a ncie name not audrey though.

jessica is a nice name and so is Layla and Georgie?
Reply:I think Audra Mae has a beautiful ring to it. It will be "cute" for a little girl, but something appropriate for when she's older.

Kudos on starting to plan your wedding now!! You're saving yourself ALLLL sorts of stress!! Here are some money-saving hints that I have seen used (or that I used myself):

1. For flowers - find a florist's assistant to do your flowers, or call in some creative friends to do your bouquet. I have seen some weddings where the bridesmaids carried small bouquets of ivy, with small silk flowers tucked into them (in the color of their dress). I have also seen brides and bridesmaids that carried baskets with greenery and a few live or silk flowers. I used almost all silk flowers in my bouquet...nobody knew the difference, and the pictures were beautiful!!

2. For favors - I have seen a lot of people make a charitable donation, and have small cards at everyone's seat that says something along the line of, "In honor of their special day, Ron %26amp; Sue have made a donation to (insert charity) in your name." I have also seen people print this on a sign that sits next to the guestbook. Another favorite of mine is small, inexpensive picture frames that you can put the guest's place card in. Keep in mind...most favors are going to end up in the trash. I have a collection of wine corkers, matches, candles, and those nasty jordan almonds that people give out. Something from the heart is always best. You can look here for some other cheap ideas:

http://www.americanbridal.com/

3. For cheap wedding invitations, you can't beat Party City. They have the same designer invites for a FRACTION of the price. If you want, you can save even more money by printing them yourself. You can find beautiful stationary in every size and color imaginable. So few people get engraved invitations anymore...and again, they usually end up in the trash!

4. Table decorations are a waste of money, and nobody will remember them. I used a white candle in a hurricane glass with ivy around it. They looked gorgeous in the pictures!

5. You can't beat a Publix wedding cake.

6. If you are going to splurge on anything...get plenty of liquor, good food, and a good DJ. I spent $40k on my wedding, and the only things people still talk about are the music, the fact that we drank the hotel out of liquor, and the food. At my 3rd anniversary dinner, I bet my friends to try and remember what my wedding cake looked like, and not one of them remembered. One friend remembered the table decorations, simple because her husband accidentally broke one!!

Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:I like either name, Audra is less common. However, get married BEFORE the baby comes! Time for you to be a mom, not plan a 'dream' wedding! Your priorities have to change!

And live flowers should only be made into bouquets and corsages the evening before, or the morning of, the wedding.
